Amy Burks is a member of the 2021 Texas Partners in Policy Making class funded by the Texas Council of Developmental Disabilities. Amy began working as a special education teacher several years ago because my youngest son has a disability. For the last 10 years, I worked as a transition coordinator for a public school district in Texas. I am on the board of a nonprofit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities by increasing awareness, inclusion, and education in communities, churches, families, and businesses. My mission is to empower, educate, and support students and families throughout the process of moving from public school life to adult life.
